Torn vs. Torn
Ay, qué maja la Imbruglia, que hasta una foto de ella oliéndose el sobaco queda bien como portada de un disco. La buena de Natalie anda últimamente de capa caída, pero durante los noventa y buena parte de la década pasada fue una de esas máquinas de producir cancioncillas pop que sin demasiados esfuerzos se colaban entre los primeros puestos de cualquier radiofórmula. ¿Por qué hablamos de ella esta semana, la que estamos dedicando principalmente a hablar de plagios? ¿Tal vez porque haya sufrido alguno en sus carnes? Bueno, no, más bien al contrario:
¿Qué, cómo os habéis quedao? En efecto: Torn, el súper hit de Natalie Imbruglia, la canción que la hizo famosa a finales de los noventa, el tema que a todo el mundo le viene a la cabeza cuando lee el nombre “Natalie” seguido del apellido “Imbruglia”, no es sino una versión descafeinada de Torn, canción compuesta originalmente por Ednaswap el mismo año en que la Imbruglia se dio a conocer con ella. Y bien, reconocemos que está un poco feo hablar de esto la semana en la que hablamos de plagios, porque en realidad se trata de una versión reconocida, pero que levante la mano el que ya conociera este dato con el que os acabamos de iluminar.
Aquí en Dando la nota es algo que nos ha servido para sumirnos en una profunda reflexión que seguramente nos mantendrá ocupados todo el fin de semana, y de la que queremos haceros partícipes: ¿qué es peor, que tu canción más conocida sea en realidad una versión de otro grupo, o que otro triunfe y se haga de oro a costa de versionearte una canción con la que tú no conseguiste forrarte como te merecías?
